Breathing new life into century-old Chinese community in Pattaya
......................................................................................................

Every Saturday, the walking street at Ban Chagngaew, a 100-year Chinese community in Pattaya, is open.

Local residents cheerfully sell their home-made food items, some being in traditional costumes.

Together, they hope to breathe new life into the community as young generations left home for jobs.

Young and old, they join the weekly market.

Youngsters take this opportunity to raise funds for charitable causes.

Some perform for tourists.

More tourists come in the evening, to enjoy old houses and local food.

At a close, outdoor movie screening begins. As visitors leave,

local residents hope to see them again in the following weeks to help them rejuvenate their community.
