Sangkhlaburi is in the remote part of Kanchanaburi Province. The main town, originally inhabited by Karen, has seen an influx of re-settlers: Mon, Burmese, Thai, Lao, and a growing number of Japanese and Westerners. The remoteness of the region adds to the it's serenity and laid-back atmosphere As a bonus, the town itself has the longest wooden bridge in Thailand. The signature attraction of Sangkhlaburi.

Sangkhlaburi is a serene small town on the Burmese border located about 5 hours northwest of Bangkok in the province of Kanchanaburi Thailand.

It is a unique rustic untouched destination to unwind, relax, eat and to meet the diverse local people. Sangkhlaburi is split into two parts, a Thai one and a Mon part called Wangka.

The two parts are connected by an amazing wooden bridge. This Mon bridge is one of the most famous attractions in Sangkhlaburi as well as its sunken old temple, the only part left after its ancient city was drowned by its dam.
