The National Council for Peace and Order have ordered the army to begin a clear up operation along Beach Road, Pattaya.

Following what is claimed to be a successful controlling of Bali Hai Pier soldiers have been ordered to clampdown on motorbike taxis, baht buses and motorbike rental companies.

The army are insisting that all rental motorbikes be painted blue to make them easily identifiable and hire companies will be banned from parking their bikes on the main Beach Road. Other areas will be made available for motorbike rentals.

Baht buses will now only be allowed to use one lane of the road, to ease traffic congestion and must only stop at designated areas.

Commander in chief Phop-anun Luengphanuwat said that all public areas will be reclaimed and that he intends to make Pattaya ‘useful for everyone’ and that everybody must respect his rules.
