SURAT THANI - A crowd of people race to the transport office in Chaiya district as soon as it opens, hoping to be one of only 40 applicants allowed to take the driving licence test that day.
The sprint was captured on video and shared on social media by Facebook user Koi Tarncharoen, who wrote: "To pass the driving licence examination, you also have to be good at running".
Surat Thani transport chief Manop Sutthipong said some people waited in front of the gate since 4am. Only 40 people can take the driving licence test each day because of time constraints. The office closes at 3.30pm.
Mr Manop attributed the rise in the number of applicants to the growing number of new car owners, and motorists whose licences were revoked for traffic violations.
