Thailand’s Car-Free Day

Many parts of Thailand observed the Car-Free Day on Sunday.
Cyclists made their presence felt in Bangkok and in many provinces including Songkhla and Rayong.
In Bangkok, Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra launched the event at Sanam Luang.
More than 30,000 cyclists joined the event in the capital.
During the event, they cycled an 8 km stretch from the starting point at Sanam Luang, near the Grand Palace.
Bangkok Governor hopes Bangkok residents cut down on the use of private cars.
Some other cyclists do bike to work, however, many said they could not use bikes as their primary means of transport in daily life. |
