The idea of setting up a People's Democratic Republic of Lanna (PDRL) has been under discussion for six months now, according to a leader of the Love Chiang Mai group.
Petchawat Wattanapongsirikul said the PDRL would just be a separate political system for the North, split from Bangkok, and not an independent state. He claims as many as four million out of six million northerners support the idea. Petchawat said people who prefer dictatorship can move from the northern region to other parts of Thailand and warned actors and singers supporting the anti-government People Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) that Chiang Mai people do not welcome them.
He said there were three factors behind the idea of setting up a "Republic of Lanna". Firstly, people in the North were looked down upon by others, with the PDRC often referring to red shirts as "red water buffaloes". Secondly, the opposing group did not respect the law and there were double standards in the judicial system. The third reason, he said, was the undemocratic aspirations of the PDRC.
Looking down on red shirts as 'red-water buffaloes' was a severe form of discrimination against human dignity, Petchawat noted.
The one country, two systems model existed in China and Hong Kong, he said, as an example.
Any attempt to stage a coup or to shut down Thailand would result in a struggle to create an independent Lanna Republic, which he insisted would continue to respect HM the King as head of state. He claims to have the support of 80 per cent of people in the North, including those who are not red shirts.
"In case there're those who think differently and admire dictatorship, they can move elsewhere. I'm not chasing them away but people should live under a political system that they are happy with. If you are democratic, come stay with us at PDRL."
A group of academics, students and alumni at Surat Thani Rajabhat University issued a statement yesterday condemning people who harbour ideas of seccession.
In the Northeast, meanwhile, the red-shirt movement began its first day of registration of "democracy defence volunteers". There was also a similar campaign in Maha Sarakham.

Army files suit against Lanna group
The Chiang Mai and Phayao army districts have filed a police complaint against people in the North carrying out activities in the name of a group called "Sor Por Por Lanna" for alleged treason in violation of Sections 113 and 114 of the Criminal Code.
3rd Army commander Lt Gen Preecha Chan-ocha said on Sunday the two army districts filed the complaint with police in the morning, but did not elaborate.
Lt Gen Preecha said the 3rd Army had followed reports on secessionism and ordered the Chiang Mai and Phayao army districts to file a police complaint against the group under Sections 113 and 114 of the Criminal Code.

Army charges Rak Chiang Mai leader
The army has filed a police complaint against Petcharawat Wattanapongsirikul, a core member of the Rak Chiang Mai 51 group, alleging separatism and treason under Sections 113 and 114 of the Criminal Code.
The complaint was filed with Mae Ping police station in Chiang Mai by Col Pokha Jokloy, chief of the Information Division of the 33rd Army District.

Bortset fra de to fup videoer så ser det ud til de gule skjorter er falmet lidt, fra nu af mødes de kun i Lumphini Park, og helt ærligt så var det, dengang jeg boede i Bangkok, et berygtet sted hvor bøsser kunne møde ligesindede efter mørkets frembrud, og efter hvad man kunne læse i aviserne dengang var der adskillige faranger der udstødte deres sidste suk der.
Nå men det kan jo blive småt for enhver

Den ene video er fup (min mening) mens den hvor der staar "live" skulle vaere aegte nok.
Med hensyn til de gule saa har de daarlig nok vaeret paa banen. Sondhi udtalte sig lige i starten men han skal vaere paapasselig med hvad han siger. Rygtet vil vide at Chamlong er syg saa ham hoerer man heller ikke meget til.
De saakaldte "gule" har blandet sig med Sutheps tropper sammen med andre borgere (inkl. roede som er imod amnesti). At demonstrationerne saa er samlet 2 steder nu er saa en anden historie. Det skulle vaere af sikkerhedsmaessige aarsager.
Generelt skal man vaere forsigtig hvor man faerdes efter moerkets frembrud.
Nu skal man ogsaa vaere paapasselig med hvem man er nabo med. I nat blev der smidt en granat paa Sukhumvit soi 18. |

Jeg mener ikke at jeg er ekspert jeg giver blot min mening tilkende.
Nu har vi saa faaet den aegte vare fra 2010. Jeg er ked af det, men de roede er bare sindssyge.
At Jatuporn & co ikke har vaeret buret inde for lang tid siden er totalt uforstaaeligt. |

nu skal vi ikke forvente ret meget, slet ikke at jatuporn møder op i retten den 18-4
alle de røde og taksin regeringen, har flere gange sagt og skrevet offentligt at de ikke anerkender de thailandske domstole afgørelser
når det ikke passer ind i deres kram |
