Immigration crackdown on border runners
BANGKOK (thaivisa.com) -- Thai Immigration Bureau has issued a new regulation to be enforced from today, June 1, 2009.
In a crackdown on foreigners who regularly abuse the tourist exemption rule of getting 15 days stay at border entry points, the Immigration Bureau has confirmed and informed thaivisa.com of the following new regulation:
A foreigner who has entered the kingdom four (4) consecutive times on 15 days tourist exemption stamps, will not be allowed to leave the country and reenter Thailand. The only option is to exit Thailand and re-enter via an international airport, which will allow a further 30 day stay.
Thaivisa.com has today confirmed the new regulations with the Immigration checkpoints in Pong Nam Ron and Aranyaprathet at the Cambodian border. We have also got confirmation from bus visa run companies that the new regulations are enforced from today June 1, 2009. Immigration checkpoints bordering Laos, Myanmar and Malaysia are expected to enforce the regulation shortly.
The new rules does not affect holders of visas issued abroad. Foreigners are advised to apply for a Tourist visas or Non-Immigrant visas at a Royal Thai Embassy or consulate outside Thailand instead of abusing the 15 day exemption rule.
As usual, holders of Tourist visas will be given 60 days stay while Non-Immigrant visa holders will be allowed 90 days stay.

BANGKOK (thaivisa.com) - Thai Immigration Bureau har udstedt en ny forordning, der skal fuldbyrdes fra i dag, den 1. juni 2009.
I et angreb på udlændinge, der regelmæssigt misbrug turistetablissementet fritagelse reglen om at få 15 dages ophold på grænsen adgangspunkter, Immigration Bureau har bekræftet og informeret thaivisa.com af følgende nye forordning:
En udlænding, der er trådt Kongeriget fire (4) følgende gange på 15 dage turist fritagelse stempler, vil ikke få lov til at forlade landet og genindtaste Thailand. Den eneste mulighed er at forlade Thailand og genindtast via en international lufthavn, som vil give yderligere 30 dages ophold.
Thaivisa.com har i dag bekræftet de nye forordninger med Immigration kontrolsteder i Pong Nam Ron og Aranyaprathet på den cambodjanske grænse. Vi har også fået en bekræftelse fra bus visum drive virksomheder, at de nye regler håndhæves fra dag 1. juni 2009. Indvandring kontrolstederne grænser op til Laos, Myanmar og Malaysia forventes at håndhæve forordningen snarest.
De nye regler berører ikke indehavere af visum udstedt i udlandet. Udlændinge opfordres til at ansøge om et turistvisum eller Non-Immigrant visum ved en kongelige thailandske ambassade eller konsulat uden for Thailand i stedet for at misbruge de 15 dages fritagelse reglen.
Som sædvanlig, indehavere af Tourist visa vil blive givet 60 dage ophold mens ikke-Immigrant visumindehavere vil blive tilladt 90 dages ophold.

Ja ser jo ud til at de gerne vil have at folk laver et rigtigt visa.....hvilket man jo så kun kan opfordre folk til at få lavet inden deres eventuelle ferie herude,hvis de vel og mærke påregner at være her mere end 30 dage

Abuse? How's that? The travellers don't do anything illegal.

Wrong. Another option is not to return to Thailand at all and instead go to or remain in Cambodia or Malaysia. They are beautiful countries with nice beaches, and they are also quite cheap to stay in.

How about obtaining confirmation from the Immigration Bureau in Soi Suan Phlu in Bangkok? They are th ones in charge. Is it impossible to communicate with them?
