A major drug bust took place last night in Pathum Thani, where police seized approximately 11 million methamphetamine tablets, commonly known as ‘Yaba,’ from an abandoned lorry. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape and the police are now working to track down the individual and expand their investigation into the drug network.
Late last night, in the Lam Luk Ka district of Pathum Thani, officers pursued and intercepted a six-wheel lorry carrying 27 sacks of methamphetamine, originating from the northeastern part of Thailand. The vehicle was abandoned within a residential area, where an additional two small sacks were discovered, totalling 29 sacks. The police were able to identify 10,800,000 pills from the lot, which had labels such as 999 and Y1. Authorities believe the drugs were sourced from the Northeastern region, KhaoSod reported.
CCTV footage from the area captured the lorry driver escaping the scene. The man seen on camera was slender, wearing a red t-shirt and three-quarter-length trousers. Despite his hurried escape, he displayed a determination to avoid capture as he crawled away.

In light of a recent 6.0-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar‘s southern coast, the Thai Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) warned that Bangkok buildings constructed before the 2007 building code revision could potentially suffer damage from future quakes. The capital’s high-rise buildings experienced the effects of the seismic activity from Myanmar, whose epicentre was approximately 490 kilometres west of Bangkok.
DMR chief, Oranuj Lorphensri, highlighted that the recent earthquake’s epicentre was located along Myanmar’s 1,200-kilometre-long Sagaing fault, a highly active seismic region. Historical data indicates that tectonic activities along the fault have produced significant earthquakes, including ten incidents measuring over 6.8 magnitudes between 1905 and 2012. The DMR’s latest forecast predicts a potential 7.5-magnitude quake around 2030.
Oranuj Lorphensri stressed that “older buildings might sustain some minor damage, like small cracks,” while newer structures should not be significantly impacted. Thailand has 16 active faults traversing 23 provinces. Of the earthquakes recorded between 1912 and 2022, six were caused by Thailand’s faults, while 46 originated from external regional faults in Myanmar and China’s Yunnan province, KhaoSod reported.

Unique laughing chickens in Trang are gaining popularity among farmers who are speedily breeding novel birds for sale, creating an extra source of income. With a sound that resembles human laughter, the amusing birds are brightening people’s days and attract eager customers.
It was reported today that Kritiwit Eiadnun, also known as Goong Kuanhan, a 50-year-old hospital worker and owner of the Pa Saun Kwang farm in Muang district, decided to breed the so-called “laughing chickens.”
The birds are said to have a special vocalisation, starting with the usual chicken crow, followed by a distinct shimmying giggle reminiscent of human laughter. This unique sound, which tends to make people smile and even join in the laughter, is what caught Eiadnun’s attention. The birds themselves are aesthetically pleasing with long, colourful feathers.
