Phud Hong Leper Colony in Ron Phibun, Nakhon Si Thammarat is one of 12 leper colonies in Thailand. Due to medical advancements and successful treatment of the disease, its residents may be the last generation to suffer from the disease. The 161 patients at the colony survive on government subsidies of around as little as 100 baht per day.
