Hot on the heels of his weekly round-up of foreign rogues, the deputy commissioner of the Tourist Police led a task force to the Grand Palace on
Sunday to tell tuk tuk and taxi drivers tricking tourists they’d lose their licenses permanently if they didn’t stop tarnishing the image of the country.
The touts telling tall tales to sell their services didn’t escape the wrath of crime buster Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal either with 52 of them detained along with the 87 drivers for a lecture on how to conduct themselves in a proper manner
Officers from Chanasongkram and Phra Ratchawang police stations rounded up a total of 149 individuals for various offenses:
1) 68 offenders were arrested for violating the Land Traffic Act (2522).
2) 19 offenders were arrested for loitering and causing a nuisance.
3) 52 offenders were arrested for being seen as risk of committing a crime.
All those detained had their details recorded and were photographed for future reference with a warning from the main man – Stop Cheating or Stop Driving with any future complaints leading to their licenses being suspended for three months.
