It is now that time of year when the Thai government publicise the daily accident reports from around Thailand. This year, the “Seven Dangerous Days of the New Year” is from 29th December 2016 to 4th January 2017. It should be noted that it is not 100% accurate as some accidents do go unreported. However, in these days of social media reporting, which includes local media, it is difficult to hide any reports of deaths.
There was once a case a few years back when local media in Phuket disputed the numbers. They had reported the death of a migrant worker but it wasn’t reported in official statistics. Hopefully this year will be more accurate. It should also be noted, that unlike in the past, deaths are not just recorded if they happen at the scene of the accident. They update the statistics if a person later dies in hospital.

her er en af de slemme ulykker
25 DIE IN FIERY CHONBURI WRECK
CHONBURI — At least 25 people were killed Monday afternoon when a van and truck burst into flames after colliding in the Ban Bueng district of Chonburi province.
The van was traveling from Chanthaburi to Bangkok when it collided at about 2pm with the pickup on Highway No. 344. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames and 25 people died, including passengers and the driver of the van.
Bancha Pannum, a witness at the scene, said he saw the van drive through the intersection, cross several lanes and crash into the truck, which was also full of passengers.
The Bangkok-bound van driver might have fallen asleep while driving, according to a preliminary police report.

Totalt vandvittigt.:o
Crash driver 'likely to have dozed off'
64-year-old made five round trips in 31 hours
Crash investigators say the driver was on his fifth 500-kilometre round trip in 31 hours when he veered into the pickup's path
"Most van drivers' earnings are based on round trips as well as a percentage from passenger fares. This gives drivers an incentive to drive fast in order to make more round trips, particularly during the New Year period,"

Spor. De er fuldstændig ligeglade.
