Several people are feared dead after a huge explosion in central Bangkok.



Local TV stations are reporting that five people were killed and 20 were injured in the blast near the Erawan Shrine.

Pictures posted on Twitter show many people on the floor and small fires in the centre of the capital of Thailand.

Body parts were scattered across the street after the bomb went off outside the shrine in the downtown Chidlom district of the Thai capital.

‘I can confirm it was a bomb, we can’t tell which kind yet, we are checking,’ national police spokesman Lietenant General Prawut Thavornsiri told AFP.

Flere meldes dræbt og mange såret efter bombeeksplosion i Thailand

De første meldinger lød på, at fem er blevet dræbt og 20 såret. Nu skriver internationale medier, at mindst 13 personer meldes dræbt. Mindst en turist er såret.

BBC's reporter på stedet melder, at der er meget kaos, og kropsdele er spredt over området. Han fortæller, at folk omkring templet blev ramt af den voldsomme eksplosion.
