The fire at the Bangchak refinery in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Soi 64 on Wednesday morning caused no death or injuries, the oil firm’s president Anusorn Saengnimnual said.
At a press conference late this morning, Mr Anusorn confirmed that Bangchak has confidence in the safety system and will continue to use the Bangkok refinery.
The damage is estimated at no more than 100 million baht, he said.
An insurance company will compensate for the loss. The incident will not hurt the company's revenue and image, he added.
Post Today website reported that Energy Minister Arak Chonlathanont and the management of Bangchak Petroleum will hold a press conference on the incident at the ministry at 1pm today.
