The cooking oil does not harm the dog (They actually enjoy the taste) but it does suffocate the mange mites.. Its not necessary to cover the whole dog in oil, a good coating on its back will do the job.. Just one important point.. Probably better to apply the oil at nighttime for soothing effect... The sun could possibly irritate the already sensitive skin..
