One of the unnamed suspects is escorted out of the building by police.

A routine raid on a house in the Phra Khanong district of Bangkok on Friday afternoon turned into the stuff of a Hollywood movie when a foreigner shot a policeman, weapons, meth and marijuana plus forged passports were seized before officers discovered the body of a male foreigner hidden in a locked freezer.

During the search one of those arrested, a Brit, two Americans and two Burmese nationals, pulled a pistol from a safe and fired three shots at a plainclothes officer, hitting him in the torso.

Once order was restored and the foreigners cuffed, the search continued which is when the discovery of the dead body in the freezer was made.

It was initially reported to be that of a female, however, later updates state it is that of a male foreigner with blonde hair.

The body was cut into five or six pieces depending on which news outlet you read and stuffed into black plastic bags that were stored in the large freezer.

Three foreigners belonging to a suspected passport forgery ring were charged with multiple offences on Saturday after police found them with drugs, guns and a dismembered body stashed in the freezer of a shophouse in Bangkok.

Police said they were still trying to confirm the nationalities of the English speakers, who were found with multiple passports, but suspect they are American or British.

They are also trying to identify the body of a foreign man found wrapped in plastic in a freezer during the raid in Sukhumvit Soi 56 in Phra Khanong district on Friday. The body had been cut into six pieces.

A Tourist Police officer was also wounded in the operation after a suspect reached inside a safe for a 9mm gun and fired three shots. The officer was not seriously hurt and is recovering in Police General Hospital.

A US Embassy spokesman said he was following the case but could not comment due to privacy concerns.

Body kept in freezer for months Foreigners face charges over shootout, forgery and concealing corpse

Two housekeepers say a freezer with a dismembered body inside was moved to the Phra Khanong residence they worked at four months ago and they were instructed to keep away from it.

Three foreign nationals detained after a police raid and shootout on Friday at the five-storey residence in Sukhumvit Soi 56 have been charged with eight offences.

Police said the charges included resisting arrest, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, forging official documents and concealing a corpse.

Although there are doubts about the legitimacy of their travel documents, two were identified from passports as Americans James Douglas Eger, 66, and Aaron Thomas Gabel, 33. Both appeared in the Phra Khanong court yesterday before being taken to the Bangkok Remand Centre.

Police say frozen body parts have been kept frozen for 8 years

Police claimed that the frozen body parts found in a freezer during police raid of the hideout of a passport forgery gang in a Sukhumvit shophouse last week have been kept frozen for over eight years.
So far, police are still in the dark about the nationality and identity of the of the dead victim as police are still waiting for an autopsy report from the forensic science institute of Chulalongkorn hospital which is expected in the next few days.

Police on Tuesday escorted a woman suspect arrested during the house raid to the house in Ekamai which was rented by one of the forgery gang members, Peter Andrew Colter.

American passport forger ‘admits cutting up the body of man strangled by gang’

THE leader of a gang of American passport forgers, Herbert Grey Lefron, has confessed to cutting up the body of a man in his 40s

Lefron, 63, claimed they strangled the man until he passed out and found the next day that the victim was dead, the source said. The crime occurred eight years ago. Two days later, Lefron bought a commercial freezer - which police found the man's body parts in during a raid on a building in Sukhumvit Soi 56 in Bangkok last week. He also bought a saw to cut the body up, as the man was too tall to fit into the freezer.

However, police don't fully believe Lefron's confession, as some points contradicted evidence, the source said.

Bangkok police chief Lt-General Sanit Mahathaworn said earlier that police had identified the man whose body was dismembered and found in the freezer. He was believed to be a US citizen but his identity will be checked thoroughly before being revealed.

Sanit said police suspected the victim may have been involved in passport forgery with three Americans arrested in the raid. It was believed the victim was killed due to various motives that police were now mulling over and his body was kept for a reason, he said.

The victim's body - chopped into six pieces - was discovered in a padlocked commercial freezer during the raid.
